Large files are hashed in chunks, so multi-GB files work. Nothing is uploaded.

MD5, SHA and CRC checksums in your browser

Compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-2 (256 / 384 / 512), SHA-3, CRC32 and xxHash64 digests of text or files. Use it to verify downloads against a published checksum. Hashing runs locally with WebAssembly — files are read in 8 MB chunks and never uploaded, so even very large files work.

Which algorithm should I use?

For security-sensitive integrity checks use SHA-256 or SHA-3. MD5 and SHA-1 are broken for security purposes but are still widely published as download checksums. CRC32 and xxHash64 are fast, non-cryptographic checksums for detecting accidental corruption.
